My channel is growing and brands are taking notice. I receive multiple emails about affiliate opportunities and product reviews. The products I do end up accepting are ones I think have value to my viewers, and ones I would use myself for commuting or touring.

My aim in reviewing products is to showcase the good, the bad, and the ugly. No product is perfect and pros and cons will always be shared if I chose to publish a video. Brands that send a free product for review cannot rely on a positive review.

Here are a few non-negotiable points I share with a brand when asked for a product review.

  • I own my content. My videos reflect what I am interested in and what I think will be relevant to my audience.
  • I aim to be as objective as possible and my opinions are based on product testing where possible.
  • Sending a product for review does not guarantee a positive review.
  • Some companies offer information about their product that they’d like to have included in the video – while this is useful, I will not present any information I do not find relevant for my viewers.
  • I will follow up with questions about a product to ensure I present content that is as accurate as possible.
  • I will not submit preview videos for anyone’s approval or revisions.
  • I will feature products authentically, and this will be based on my bicycle setup. I will not feature a product on a specific bike, or in a certain way, just because a brand asks for it.
  • I will identify a video with a “Paid promotion” tag when it features a product that was sent to me at no cost, even if the video is not sponsored.
  • I am happy to have my videos shared as long as the video is streamed or linked to in its original format.
  • I cannot guarantee the number of views or any level of engagement from my audience on the produced video.

This list will change with time as the channel continues its growth.
